The MolinaCares Accord Commits $200,000 to Fund Maternal Health Navigators in Mississippi

JACKSON, Miss.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The MolinaCares Accord (“MolinaCares”), together with Molina Healthcare of Mississippi (“Molina”), announced $200,000 in grants to Magnolia Medical Foundation over the next four years in support of maternal health navigators in Mississippi and expanding access for those in need of maternal health care.

The grant will fund operations, including medical staff and maternal health navigators, at Foundation clinics from January of 2026 through December of 2028. Maternal health navigators help expecting moms navigate the medical system from pre-natal appointments to post-natal care, connecting patients to critical services, as well as a supportive network.

“Through partners like Molina, we are able to continue providing care to underserved populations and those who would not otherwise have access,” said Dr. Erica Thompson, founder and executive director at Magnolia Medical Foundation. “We are grateful for the MolinaCares grant and the difference it will make in supporting women in Mississippi.”

In Mississippi, 51% of counties are considered maternity care deserts, the highest among southern states, and 24% of women live more than 30 minutes from a birthing hospital.

“MolinaCares is committed to breaking down barriers to critical care,” said David Livingston, plan president of Molina Healthcare of Mississippi. “Through this partnership with Magnolia Medical Foundation, we can make a real impact in the health and well-being of women in need.”
