Vantage Data Centers Appoints Robin Balen as Chief Product Officer to Lead Newly Created Product Organization

Industry innovator with deep data center and hyperscale engineering expertise to shape global product strategy

DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Vantage Data Centers, a leading global provider of hyperscale data center campuses, today announced the appointment of Robin Balen as chief product officer (CPO) to lead the company’s recently created product organization. A seasoned technology and business leader with more than 25 years of experience, Balen will spearhead Vantage’s global product vision and roadmap, partnering across regions and functions to accelerate and scale innovation and deliver world-class solutions for hyperscalers and AI-focused customers. He will be based in London and report to Executive Vice President Jeff Tench.

The creation of a standalone product organization marks an important milestone in the company’s evolution, reinforcing its commitment to building a globally coordinated innovation engine while maintaining the agility and responsiveness the world’s largest data center customers expect. This focus will enable Vantage to rapidly iterate as technology, workloads and AI infrastructure requirements evolve, supporting a seamless feedback loop between customer needs, engineering, design and delivery.

Balen joins Vantage with extensive global experience developing hyperscale infrastructure and leading long-term technology strategies supporting major cloud and AI providers. His technical depth across electrical, mechanical and compute systems, combined with his ability to guide complex innovation programs, position him uniquely to scale Vantage’s global product portfolio. In 2000, Balen founded Gyron, a pioneering UK data center business that grew into a market leader before its acquisition by NTT. Balen spent nearly two decades leading and scaling the platform, including seven years in senior leadership roles following the acquisition.

Most recently, as principal at Asymptote Solutions, Balen advised investors and operators on next-generation infrastructure architectures, product design strategies and large-scale delivery models for hyperscalers. His work developing standardized, innovative solutions, shaping customer requirements and supporting multi-billion-dollar global programs has established him as a trusted leader in defining the future of digital infrastructure, experience that directly supports Vantage’s vision for a unified, world-class global product organization.

“Robin brings to Vantage a distinguished track record advancing hyperscale infrastructure and leading high-impact innovation across global markets,” said Tench. “His foresight into industry trends and uncommon balance of operational and technical leadership make him the ideal leader to drive the next phase of our global product organization as we continue enabling the world’s most transformative companies.”

“I’m honored to join Vantage Data Centers at such a pivotal moment for the company,” said Balen. “Vantage has an exceptional opportunity to define the next generation of digital infrastructure, especially as AI workloads reshape global demand and the sustainable infrastructure needed to support it. I look forward to partnering with teams across the company to build products and standards that lead the industry and deliver meaningful value for our customers worldwide.”
