AdvancedMD Names Nupura Kolwalkar-Rana Chief Product and Technology Officer to Drive AI Innovation and Deliver Smart Automations for Private Practices

As CPTO, Kolwalkar-Rana will lead the healthcare technology company’s product roadmap with a hyper-focus on smart AI adoptions and automations

SOUTH JORDAN, Utah--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AdvancedMD, a provider of cloud-based healthcare software for independent medical practices, has named Nupura Kolwalkar-Rana Chief Product and Technology Officer (CPTO). Kolwalkar-Rana will lead the company’s product and technology roadmap and AI innovations, ensuring the AdvancedMD platform enhances efficiencies, drives productivity, and improves patient outcomes for ambulatory care providers who rely on its practice management, EHR, and patient engagement solutions.

The healthcare technology industry is undergoing a dramatic transformation as healthcare leaders sharpen their focus on AI implementations. Earlier this year, Rock Health released findings from a survey of more than 1,200 family physicians and primary care providers that revealed 66% of respondents said they expect AI would improve their workload. Meanwhile, many of the survey respondents reported concerns about the technology, with 81% saying that they wanted more training to fully trust AI solutions at work.

AdvancedMD is proactively addressing provider needs by taking a thoughtful and intentional approach to its AI implementations. Most recently, the company rolled out multiple AI enhancements, including AI-assisted pre-visit summaries that use AI technology to create summaries based on recent patient data. AdvancedMD also released an AI-assisted feature that allows practices to import insurance details into a patient’s chart from insurance cards uploaded by patients through the patient portal, telehealth intake processes, online intake processes, or the online scheduling platform.

“AdvancedMD is doing something truly unique in the healthcare technology space: they are democratizing access to high-performing solutions that once upon a time were only available to large healthcare systems. With AdvancedMD, independently-owned medical groups, regardless of their size, can take advantage of intelligent AI tools and automations that not only deliver efficiencies across their practices, but also help providers focus on care delivery while building thriving businesses,” said Kolwalkar-Rana. “We are an innovative healthcare technology company with a strong corporate culture that prioritizes the employee experience. I am so thrilled to be part of this team and the work we are doing.”

Kolwalkar-Rana has more than a decade of experience leading product and strategy for healthcare technology organizations. Prior to joining AdvancedMD, she served as the Chief Product Officer for DNAnexus, an enterprise platform for precision health leaders, and was the Chief Solutions Officer at Emids, a digital transformation solutions provider for healthcare and life science organizations. Earlier in her tenure as a healthcare technology leader, she was Chief Product Officer at BrightTree, a SaaS platform for post-acute care and pharmacy home-infusion. As CEO for Mana Health, she raised over $3M in investment capital and oversaw the successful acquisition of the company by Comcast.

According to AdvancedMD CEO Amanda Sharp, “Nupura is a visionary technology leader and a huge asset to AdvancedMD at a pivotal time in our organization’s history. As we accelerate our AI strategy to empower smarter care in the ambulatory space, Nupura’s leadership will be instrumental in creating cutting-edge solutions that bridge the gap between innovative technology and practical implementations. Our focus remains the same – empowering private practices to deliver better care while also fortifying the financial health of their businesses. Nupura’s deep expertise and experience in the healthcare technology industry are exactly what we need right now.”
