AltaLink Recognized for Innovation, Safety and Leadership by Electricity Canada

CALGARY, Alberta--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AltaLink is honoured to have received awards and recognition from Electricity Canada celebrating the company’s innovation, leadership, safety culture and commitment to inclusion and sustainability at the Electricity Canada’s Powering Partnerships reception.

Lifesaving Award – Buddy Up Program
AltaLink’s implementation of the Buddy Up program, created by CMHA Alberta and Centre for Suicide Prevention, received Electricity Canada’s Lifesaving Award, recognizing employees who demonstrate extraordinary service in preventing harm. The award recognizes various AltaLink employees for their leadership in promoting mental health awareness and peer support across AltaLink’s workforce. Their efforts have strengthened a culture where employees look out for each other physically, emotionally and mentally.

Women in Electricity Leadership Circle
AltaLink’s Executive Vice President of Corporate Services, Johanne Picard-Thompson, was recognized as part of Electricity Canada’s Women in Electricity Leadership Circle for advancing women in leadership and embedding equity and inclusion throughout the organization. The award acknowledges Johanne’s commitment to increasing representation and opportunity for women across Canada’s utility sector.

Centre of Excellence – AltaLink Situational Awareness Portal
AltaLink’s Situational Awareness Portal will be inducted into Electricity Canada’s 2025 Centre of Excellence, which highlights projects that demonstrate innovation, leadership and positive community impact. AltaLink was recognized for its ability to make informed, real-time decisions during wildfires and emergency conditions, helping protect customers and infrastructure while supporting a more resilient grid.

Sustainable Electricity Designation
AltaLink once again achieved Electricity Canada’s Sustainable Electricity Designation.
