Travelers Recognized for Military-Friendly Culture

HARTFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Travelers Companies, Inc. (NYSE: TRV) today announced it has maintained its Gold rank on VIQTORY’s Military Friendly® Companies list, as well as its inclusion on the Military Friendly® Employers and Military Spouse Friendly Employers® lists. The company was also once again named to the Military Times Best for Vets Employers list.

“With unmatched leadership skills, a drive for team success and a strong work ethic, the military community adds tremendous value to any organization,” said Diane Kurtzman, Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer at Travelers. “We are proud to offer programs and resources that help service members, veterans and military spouses grow their civilian careers, and it’s an honor to be recognized for our efforts.”

Travelers supports a variety of initiatives designed to create a culture where veterans and military spouses feel welcomed and have the opportunity to thrive. These include:

  • An employee resource group focused on building awareness of and celebrating military service members’ and veterans’ skills and experiences. Since its launch in 2013, the Military/Veterans & Allies Diversity Network has grown to nearly 3,300 members.
  • A recruiting initiative focused on helping military spouses build their careers. Since 2020, the company has hired more than 300 military spouses and created a forum where they can share advice, exchange resources and offer support to one another.
  • A partnership with American Corporate Partners (ACP), a national nonprofit that helps veterans and military spouses land their next career. Travelers has sponsored roughly 100 mentor relationships annually since 2010 and has recently increased that number to 250 to join ACP in commemorating America’s 250th anniversary.
  • Comprehensive benefits for employees deployed on active duty, including full benefits in addition to supplementing military pay for up to five years of their deployment.

The company has signed the Statement of Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve at both state and national levels and participates in the Department of Defense Military Spouse Employment Partnership, which connects military spouses with employers dedicated to recruiting, hiring, promoting and retaining military spouses. Over the years, Travelers has also been named an Employer for Outstanding Support by the U.S. Navy Reserve and a Beyond the Yellow Ribbon company by the Minnesota National Guard.
