The program’s mission is to support federal firefighters, military police, post offices and security augmentation forces with CBRNE (Chemical, Biological, Radiation, Nuclear and Explosive) and hazardous materials equipment, training and support. Its purpose is to protect Marine Corps installations and the people on them from CBRNE terrorism and hazardous materials incidents.

The XplorIR devices will be deployed at installations within the United States and overseas. The U.S. Marine Corps CBRNE-IPP is an early adopter of the company’s MX908 handheld mass spectrometry device for trace-level chemical identification and is now adopting the XplorIR for identification of bulk gases.

The handheld XplorIR device rapidly detects, identifies, and quantifies more than 5,000 unknown gas and vapor chemical threats, including complex mixtures, at the point of need. Samples can be wirelessly uploaded to the 908 Devices’ Team Leader app for real-time viewing of results from outside the hot zone, enabling informed decisions for a coordinated response. The device has simple controls, an intuitive display and is built for harsh environments, making it easy for first responders to use in emergency situations.
