Davidson Investment Banking announced two changes to leadership today within the Financial Institutions team: Gene Katz has been appointed Head of Financial Institutions Investment Banking and Tom Hayes has been named Head of Depositories, a newly established role within Financial Institutions Investment Banking.

During his 13 years at D.A. Davidson, Katz has built a reputation for himself as one of the most active members of the Financial Institutions Group (FIG), with deep expertise in serving community banks, regional banks, and international money center financial institutions. Prior to joining the firm, he spent 15 years as managing director at Hovde Financial, a nationally recognized investment banking firm focusing on financial institutions.

During his time as Co-Head of Financial Institutions Investment Banking, Hayes specialized in fostering collaboration with FIG leadership across the platform, working closely with Equity Capital Market’s Financial Technology Investment Banking team as well as the Fixed Income Capital Markets group. He has over 25 years of experience structuring mergers and acquisitions, evaluating strategic alternatives, and facilitating public and private offerings of equity and debt for financial institutions.
