“As physical AI advances, the ability for machines to sense, understand, and interact with the world will be essential,” said Dr. Bhowmik. “RealSense helped establish perceptual computing as a field, and I am excited to rejoin the team at this pivotal moment, bringing my experience across research, industry, and the broader perception ecosystem to help expand its impact and scale the technologies that will define the future of intelligent systems.”

Dr. Bhowmik serves as chief technology officer and executive vice president of engineering at Starkey, a global leader in sensory augmentation and hearing technology, and an adjunct professor at Stanford University. Previously, he was vice president and general manager of perceptual computing at Intel, where he spearheaded the development of RealSense technology, work that established him as one of the key architects of the field. He has authored more than 200 publications and holds over 80 patents, and has been recognized with numerous honors, including Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Fellow and President of the Society for Information Display (SID), and multiple industry innovation awards.

“Advanced perception is key to unlocking the potential of physical AI,” said Nadav Orbach, CEO of RealSense. “With 10 years of constant innovation, we are uniquely positioned to lead this transformation. Having Dr. Bhowmik, whose work was instrumental in creating RealSense, join us again is an honor and a tremendous advantage as we build the next generation of intelligent vision systems. His strong relationships across the research and technology ecosystem will be invaluable as we scale.”
