AmTrust Announces Key Leadership Appointments to its Excess & Surplus (E&S) Division

Curt Fletcher and Matt Thomas join AmTrust’s new E&S Premier group

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AmTrust Financial Services, Inc. (“AmTrust” or the “Company”), a global specialty property casualty insurer, today announced the appointments of Curt Fletcher as Senior Vice President and Matt Thomas as Vice President of AmTrust’s newly established E&S Premier group within the Company’s Excess and Surplus (E&S) division. These appointments underscore AmTrust’s continued investment in building a market-leading E&S platform, expanding its capabilities in this fast-growing specialty market.

E&S Premier is a new AmTrust business group focused on complex casualty business distributed through a very select group of brokers. E&S Premier will target a market not currently served by AmTrust’s existing E&S casualty businesses, expanding AmTrust’s appetite for E&S as part of its ongoing commitment to this specialty market. Distribution will be exclusively through wholesale brokers, reinforcing AmTrust E&S’s wholesale-only focus.

Curt Fletcher brings more than 30 years of experience building and leading successful E&S businesses. He most recently served as President & CEO of Berkley E&S Solutions, following a long career at W.R. Berkley Corporation and its subsidiary Admiral Insurance, holding leadership roles including Regional Vice President, Chief Underwriting Officer, and President & CEO. Earlier in his career, he served as a Vice President at Gen Re. His proven ability to drive growth and strengthen underwriting platforms will be central to advancing AmTrust’s E&S Premier business.

Matt Thomas brings complementary expertise with a strong focus on underwriting and underwriting strategy, accelerating AmTrust’s momentum in the specialty market. He joins AmTrust after 15 years with Admiral Insurance, where he most recently served as National Vice President of Professional Liability Underwriting Strategy and Analytics. His prior roles at Admiral included Vice President of Professional Liability and underwriter, following an earlier underwriting position at CNA.
