Cemvita Accelerates Commercial Momentum with Complementary Technology Acquisition and Senior Hire in Brazil

HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Cemvita, a leader in industrial biotechnology building a scalable circular bioeconomy, today announced two practical steps that materially strengthen its ability to translate validated lab and scale up results into reliable industrial performance: a complementary technology acquisition that expands the Company’s IP and scale-up capacity, and the appointment of Dr. Luciano Zamberlan as Vice President of Operations, based in Brazil. These moves are intended to strengthen operating readiness in-country, and deepen Cemvita’s technical and execution capabilities.

"These steps enable us to augment Brazil’s longstanding bioindustrial ecosystem with next-generation capabilities, reducing early commercialization risk and expanding optionality for future product platforms." Marcio Silva, CTO of Cemvita

The complementary technology acquisition brings additional synthetic biology toolsets and IP, as well as strain know-how that compresses commercialization timelines. Coupled with dedicated, in-country operational leadership, these additions increase confidence around near-term delivery milestones, commissioning, and reliable product supply with a sustainable value chain.

Cemvita has recently reported stepped improvements in FermOil™ bioprocess productivity and strong third-party validation of FermNatural™ co-product attributes, outcomes that improve the underlying project economics and market positioning. In addition, the company has advanced the engineering workflow of FermWorks™ with Brazilian partners toward a Final Investment Decision (FID). In parallel, the company has advanced its industrial plan in Rio Grande do Sul, creating alignment between feedstock availability, local infrastructure, and public-sector facilitation that supports a clear path to commercial operation.

These steps enable us to augment Brazil’s longstanding bioindustrial ecosystem with next-generation capabilities, reducing early commercialization risk and expanding optionality for future product platforms. Together, they strengthen our ability to move from proof-of-concept to industrial reality.” Said Marcio Silva, CTO of Cemvita.

Luciano Zamberlan will be based in Brazil to lead operational execution, site readiness and early commissioning activities. Luciano brings more than 20 years of experience in biotechnology and most recently he served as Director of Engineering at Raízen (Brazil’s largest ethanol producer, and the world’s largest producer of sugarcane ethanol), where he led large-scale projects from concept through operation. Luciano coordinated the implementation of four greenfield plants, overseeing operational teams, engineering, subsystem commissioning, and process optimization for second-generation ethanol (E2G) and biogas. Focused on innovation and sustainability, he has a track record of integrating multidisciplinary teams to identify technological synergies that maximize financial impact while reducing environmental footprint.

“I am very pleased to join Cemvita, a company at the forefront of transforming waste into valuable, sustainable resources. My expertise in scaling-up innovation, coupled with my experience in structuring and commissioning greenfield industrial operations, is perfectly aligned with Cemvita's mission and I'm eager to bring my energy and drive to accelerate Cemvita's industrial performance and contribute for a circular future.” Said Luciano Zamberlan, the newly appointed VP of Operations at Cemvita.

These practical investments in technology and operations are designed to accelerate the conversion of validated science into repeatable industrial performance, improving optionality across SAF, biofertilizer, and specialty chemical pathways while enhancing capital efficiency and delivery certainty for collaborators. Cemvita remains focused on disciplined execution: converting technology milestones into dependable supply and measurable impact.
