PMI Endorses Recent 529 Plan Expansion, Unlocking Upskilling Pathways and Helping Bridge the Project Management Talent Gap

New flexibility enables more Americans to upskill affordably in project management and helps employers tap into qualified talent

PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Project Management Institute (PMI), the world's leading authority for project professionals, supports the recent expansion of 529 savings plans, now in effect as of July 4, to include career upskilling certifications—such as PMI^® globally recognized project management certifications. According to the PMI Global Project Management Talent Gap report, the world will need up to 30 million new project professionals by 2035, including 5 million new project professionals in North America alone. Expanding 529 plan eligibility helps close this gap by enabling individuals to fund their path to project management certification in a new way—and provides employers with a larger pool of qualified professionals ready to lead projects and deliver outcomes.
