LIBERTY NETWORKS STRENGTHENS CONNECTIVITY IN MEXICO AND PERU

The MANTA subsea cable system will complement the Network expansion, enhancing cross-border connectivity between the U.S., Mexico, Central, and South America

MIAMI, FL--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Liberty Networks, a leading provider of enterprise connectivity and digital infrastructure in Latin America and the Caribbean, extended its network coverage with the activation of two new regional Points-of-Presence (PoPs) in Mexico and an enhanced PoP in Peru. The new and enhanced PoPs, located in Campeche and Chetumal, Mexico, and Lima, Peru, support the company’s regional growth strategy and strengthen connectivity across Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula and South America.

This growth effort marks a major milestone in Liberty Networks’ regional strategy, reinforcing its commitment to entering new markets and delivering high-performance, reliable connectivity to fast-growing and underserved areas. MANTA, the company’s subsea cable system, will complement the PoP rollout and terrestrial network expansion and is designed to optimize regional traffic flow by delivering low-latency routes that interconnect key data hubs across the Americas.

“These new and enhanced PoPs are more than just network extensions; they represent our vision to build a stronger, smarter digital ecosystem across Latin America. Our presence in Lima, Peru, marks a defining milestone and reinforces our long-term commitment to these key markets. Together with our growth in Mexico and the strategic launch of MANTA to complement these PoPs, we’re laying the foundation that ensures the region can compete and participate in the digital future,” said Ray Collins, SVP of Infrastructure and Corporate Strategy at Liberty Latin America.

The Points-of-Presence will provide a suite of solutions, including high-speed IP Transit, DDoS Protection, MPLS, and Ethernet services to local enterprises, carriers, and government institutions, enabling them to scale operations, enhance performance, and connect seamlessly with global networks. With these additions, Liberty Networks will reach 96 wholesale PoPs across Latin America and the Caribbean.

The company's operations form the backbone of regional connectivity, spanning over 30 countries with nearly 50,000 kilometers of submarine fiber optic cable and 17,000 kilometers of terrestrial networks. This strategic expansion enhances the customer experience by positioning key network nodes closer to businesses, boosting reliability and performance for mission-critical operations, and enabling faster data transfer for a seamless user experience.

“Peru is a fast-growing digital market, and our enhanced PoP in Lima reinforces our commitment to supporting that momentum,” said Collins. “It’s a key part of our regional growth strategy and our broader vision to deliver scalable, secure, and future-ready connectivity that powers economic development and accelerates digital transformation across the region.”

This latest expansion follows the activation of PoPs in Mérida, Mexico, and Quetzaltenango, Guatemala, last year, and forms part of the company’s $250 million five-year investment plan announced in 2023. The plan focuses on strengthening Liberty Networks’ digital backbone, particularly in regions where rapid growth in data consumption is reshaping business and societal needs.
