“Laura is uniquely equipped to scale both sides of our dual business model, applying a global lens to strategic expansion,” said Peter Morales, CEO of Code Metal. “Her experience bridging policy and operational excellence—spanning national security, international economics, and high-growth technology—positions her to accelerate our mission of reindustrializing global supply chains with AI.”

Before joining Code Metal, Shen served as Director for China on the National Security Council, where she shaped U.S.-China policy. Earlier, she spent eight years at the U.S. Department of the Treasury in senior positions, driving critical initiatives in economic policy. Her experience navigating policy at the highest levels, coupled with operational leadership at Uber during a key inflection point, positions her to scale both sides of Code Metal’s dual business model.

As the government leans into startup collaboration and operational efficiency, Laura will drive initiatives focused on AI-powered productivity in the defense and industrial sectors. “I’m thrilled to join Code Metal at such a transformative moment for both the company and the industry,” said Laura Shen. “There has never been a more important time to combine technology and industry to drive real-world impact.”
