For 2025 CDR has named CAE its Top Defence Company and it’s the third time for the company at the #1 spot in the 21 years the ranking has been published.

In commenting on the #1 ranking, Marc Parent, CAE’s President and Chief Executive Officer, said: “We are incredibly proud of CAE's legacy and the profound impact we have on Canada’s defence and aerospace industry. This recognition as the top defence company in Canada for the third time is an affirmation of our unwavering dedication to innovation, quality, and the enduring trust we have built with our partners over decades. Our commitment to excellence drives us to continually push the boundaries of what is possible in defence and aerospace training.”

France Hébert, Division President, D&S Canada and Global Operations Lead at CAE added, “For more than 75 years, CAE has forged a strong relationship with Canada’s Armed Forces. We are integral to Canada’s efforts to develop a robust national defence industry, and our commitment to excellence continues to drive us forward.”

On receiving the #1 ranking, Marc-Olivier Sabourin, Division President, CAE Defense & Security, International, said: “Our wide spectrum of training supports defence forces in achieving optimal outcomes, leveraging innovative technologies and methodologies. Our comprehensive turnkey solutions position us as a trusted partner for governments, defence forces, and OEMs worldwide.”

Editor-in-Chief, Peter A. Kitchen, commented, “When CDR initiated Canada’s Top Defence Companies survey & ranking over 20 years ago, for our #1 company, we had to look no further than CAE, an exemplary Canadian aerospace and defence company that was a world leader in its field. Now, all these years later we’ve come full circle as the Montreal-based company wins the #1 position for a record third time.”

He added, “CDR would like to congratulate CAE’s excellent outgoing President and CEO, Marc Parent, on the important work he’s done building this company into a true world leader in training and simulation. And, last year CAE's SkyAlyne joint venture won the important FAcT contract to supply the RCAF with critical aircrew training in a 25-year, $11.2 billion deal. So, for all these reasons and more, we are extremely pleased to once more recognize CAE as Canada’s #1 Defence Company.”

This year CDR has added 11 new companies to the Top 100 ranking, a testament to the strength of Canada’s defence industry.

An evaluation panel consisting of CDR editorial staff and independent advisors ranked the companies based on factors such as economic impact, innovation, contribution to the nation's security, corporate integrity and support for Canada’s military.

With the publication of its annual Top 100 Defence Company Ranking, CDR’s goal is to showcase Canada’s defence industry and all that it has to offer.
