Sonim is using Binarly’s advanced tools to automatically scan Android operating system and firmware files, helping to detect and address potential security risks before devices are deployed. This proactive approach ensures that Sonim’s rugged smartphones meet the highest cybersecurity standards while maintaining their durability for extreme conditions.

The Binarly Transparency Platform simplifies the process of identifying vulnerabilities and hidden risks in the software supply chain. It also automates the creation of Software Bill of Materials (SBOM), a critical document for verifying compliance and speeding up carrier approvals. By integrating Binarly’s API into its development pipeline, Sonim ensures that every software update and firmware release undergoes thorough security checks without slowing down innovation.

The Binarly solution includes features for continuous, automated Android OS and firmware scanning to identify known vulnerabilities and hidden backdoors before Sonim’s rugged smartphones reach the field.

The Binarly Transparency Platform also provides efficient SBOM (Software Bill of Materials) generating and reporting, providing Sonim with an automatically generated, validated SBOM, simplifying compliance verification and speeding up carrier approvals.

By incorporating Binarly’s API into Sonim’s development pipeline, every firmware and Android OS release is automatically scanned, ensuring that security checks run continuously without slowing innovation.

“Binarly’s tools allow us to take a proactive approach to security,” said Harish Aithal, Senior Director Systems Architect at Sonim. “By automating deep scans of our firmware and operating system, we can deliver devices that not only withstand physical extremes but also meet rigorous cybersecurity standards. This integration helps us protect our customers and streamline compliance processes.”

Binarly CEO and Head of Research Alex Matrosov highlights that Sonim’s use of the platform showcases the strength of Binarly’s automated analysis and reporting tools in a real-world setting.

“By integrating our solution directly into their CI/CD pipeline, Sonim can identify and address vulnerabilities early, ensuring their devices deliver both durability and robust cybersecurity. This is a significant step forward for mission-critical communications.”

The Binarly Transparency Platform provides comprehensive visibility into every layer of the software supply chain, including the Android operating system, and utilizes patented technologies to uncover cryptographic assets and generate the most accurate CBOM (Cryptographic Bill of Materials).
