Merlin Awarded Part 145 Maintenance Certification in New Zealand

With this certification milestone, Merlin now holds both a Part 135 Air Operators Certificate and Part 145 Maintenance Certificate in New Zealand

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Merlin, the leading developer of safe, autonomous flight technology for fixed-wing aircraft, today announced it was awarded a Part 145 Maintenance Certificate in New Zealand, which authorizes Merlin to conduct maintenance on aircraft operated by Part 121 and Part 135 organizations. The certification follows Merlin being awarded its Part 135 Organizational Certification in February 2024.

While the certification enables Merlin to work on aircraft operated commercially in New Zealand, it also reinforces the trust and confidence that regulators have in the company’s ability to design, build, and operate autonomous technologies. Merlin remains committed to progressing autonomous flight capabilities to enhance safety and operational efficiencies in aviation.

“This certification demonstrates the high regard in which Merlin is held by regulators, underscoring both our credibility and our commitment to implementing autonomy in a way that upholds the industry’s high safety standards,” said Grant Crenfeldt, CEO of New Zealand, Merlin. “Obtaining this certification is not just about maintaining aircraft—it also demonstrates our commitment to lead aviation innovation, paving the way for a future in which our skies are safer and more resilient.”
