NaphCare Launches MyCare Patient Portal to Improve Access to Care and Enhance Transparency of Health Information

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--NaphCare, Inc., a leading correctional healthcare company, has developed the MyCare Patient Portal to improve access to care and provide patients 24/7 visibility into their personal health information. Delivered through digital tablets in correctional facilities, MyCare connects patients directly with healthcare staff and enables access to personal medical records, including test results, medication details, upcoming appointments, and patient education resources. This increased access fosters greater patient engagement and understanding in their care plans, equipping individuals with the knowledge and tools to make healthier choices, ultimately helping to reduce recidivism and relapse.

MyCare Patient Portal is fully integrated with NaphCare’s corrections-specific electronic health record (EHR), TechCare 5.0, enabling patients to securely and confidentially request health services for review by clinicians.

“NaphCare wants to enable and empower our patients in their health journeys while incarcerated, but also increase those patients’ likelihood of stable reentry into their communities. MyCare is the latest collaboration that helps us all reach that goal,” said Charlie Barranco, Chief Information Officer for NaphCare.

MyCare helps bridge the gap between the patient and the provider in correctional facilities. Reducing a patient’s anxiety and fear that may stem from health-related unknowns helps to improve their experience as both a patient and resident within the correctional facility. In facilities where NaphCare provides healthcare services, patients can use MyCare to submit medication-related questions to a team of NaphCare Rx pharmacists, who respond directly through the platform. This two-way communication between patients and the pharmacy team is a unique service that helps ensure patients understand their treatment and take their medications as directed.

MyCare also offers an educational feature designed to benefit patients. Patients receive educational materials directly in the MyCare patient portal, providing valuable information about their specific conditions, including potential causes, symptoms, treatments, and outcomes.

The benefits of MyCare also extend to the correctional facilities and those who run them. As MyCare fosters direct, proactive communication between patients and clinicians, it helps reduce unnecessary patient movement and allows staff to focus more on care and less on paperwork.

As a leader in innovation and research within correctional healthcare, NaphCare is committed to investing in technology development to continue to drive improvements in patient care, boost staff efficiency, and deliver better health outcomes.
