Engine and WEX Team Up to Offer Seamless Business Travel for the Nation’s Fleet Industry

Engine is the first travel company to accept WEX fuel cards with no contracts, no minimum spend, and no agent-assist fees

DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Engine, the modern business and group travel platform trusted by over 900,000 travelers, today announced a collaboration with WEX, the global commerce platform that simplifies the business of running a business, to enable WEX’s Over The Road Fuel Cards as a payment option for eligible customers. By teaming up with WEX, Engine has become the first business travel company to accept WEX’s proprietary Fleet One and EFS fuel cards, helping drive savings and provide greater control and insight into spending for Engine and WEX over-the-road (OTR) customers.

"Truck drivers today face major challenges traveling on the road, from finding safe parking to managing fuel costs,” said Elia Wallen, Engine Founder and CEO. “By accepting WEX Fleet One and EFS fuel cards, we're making business travel easier for trucking fleets — offering greater payment flexibility, streamlined expense tracking, and time-saving solutions that keep drivers moving."

WEX is a leading provider of commercial fuel cards and payment solutions, including for fleet, trucking, and logistics companies. Through this new integration, WEX OTR customers can enable their drivers to leverage Engine’s platform to book truck-friendly lodging with their WEX Fleet One and EFS fuel cards. WEX customers can even filter their search for lodging that offers big rig parking or free continental breakfast.

With over 750,000 Engine properties, drivers can book lodging in real-time, guaranteeing room availability with a wide range of hotel and motel options. Engine also covers incidentals upfront to reduce check-in issues, consolidate lodging invoices, and simplify expense management, saving companies time and money.

“Managing business travel expenses and logistics costs companies time and money, which makes this seamless integration of WEX’s EFS and Fleet One fuel cards with Engine’s expansive network a logical collaboration,” said Tim Hampton, WEX Senior Vice President and General Manager of Over-the-Road. "This move provides trucking companies and their drivers with a streamlined solution, combining hotel bookings on the Engine platform with the ease of using their existing WEX over-the-road fuel cards.”

According to Engine’s Powering Travel Trends Report, 93% of business travelers expect their travel plans to change within a week of scheduling their trip. Eligible WEX customers will be granted flexibility with their Engine booking, with the option to book last-minute stays and the ability to modify, change, or cancel their trip – all with no contracts, no minimum spend, and no agent-assist fees.

With this integration, Engine and WEX simplify travel processes, eliminating the need to issue separate credits or reimbursements for the trucking industry.
