Latino Community Foundation Awards Nearly $4 Million in Grants to Empower Latino Communities

Strengthening grassroots capacity among Latino-led organizations and welcoming new Board leadership

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Latino Community Foundation (LCF) is proud to announce that it has awarded $3,882,500 in grants this quarter to support Latino-led organizations across California and Nevada that are working to protect and serve Latino communities. This funding reflects LCF’s commitment to investing in the resilience and power of vulnerable communities to overcome threats and challenges. For example, more than $300,000 from LCF’s Latino Power Fund was directed to provide critical resources to immigrant rights organizations for legal aid, rapid response services, and community organizing efforts.

LCF prioritized support for rural communities in California’s Central and Imperial Valleys, and Nevada, regions historically underfunded by public and philanthropic institutions, where federal anti-immigrant policies have disproportionately affected vulnerable, majority-Latino populations.

Awards include $905,000 to support economic justice initiatives for immigrant entrepreneurs through LCF's Latino Capital Accelerator and investment in the expansion of Asociación de Emprendedores into the Imperial Valley, with the goal of removing barriers to Latino business creation and growth. LCF also granted $630,000 to strengthen civic power through initiatives like its Rest in Power Sabbatical Program and investments in Latino-led journalism to drive narrative change. To aid communities impacted by climate disasters, LCF awarded $2.1 million to sixteen organizations providing immediate relief to workers and families affected by the LA wildfires.

In addition to these critical investments, LCF announces a leadership transition within its Board of Directors. After 11 years of dedicated service, Daniel L. Skaff, Co-founder and Managing Partner of Radicle Impact Partners, presided over his final meeting and will complete his tenure in June. Under his leadership, LCF has experienced tremendous growth, expanding its impact beyond California and appointing its current CEO, former U.S. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julián Castro.

As part of LCF’s commitment to strengthening grassroots leadership on its Board, Cristina Tzintzún Ramirez, Executive Director of NextGen America, has been appointed to the Board of Trustees. A nationally recognized leader in organizing and mobilizing Latino communities, Cristina brings a wealth of experience and a deep dedication to building power. Her leadership and vision will help guide LCF into its next chapter, ensuring continued investment in and support of grassroots leaders driving change in their communities.
