Pryor Cashman Welcomes Former SDNY Complex Frauds & Cybercrime Chief Katherine Reilly to White Collar + Regulatory Enforcement Practice

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Pryor Cashman announced today that Katherine Reilly has joined the firm’s New York office as a partner in the White Collar + Regulatory Enforcement Practice. Kate comes to Pryor Cashman from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, where she served as a federal prosecutor for more than a decade, most recently as chief of the Complex Frauds & Cybercrime Unit.

At Pryor Cashman, Kate’s practice focuses on counseling individual and corporate clients involved in civil and criminal investigations by federal, state, and local regulators. In addition, Kate provides guidance to clients about how to structure their operations to stay compliant with an ever-evolving regulatory landscape.

In doing so, Kate brings to bear her more than a decade of experience as a federal prosecutor in the Southern District of New York, where she served both as an Assistant U.S. Attorney and chief of the Complex Frauds & Cybercrime Unit. At the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Kate participated in and supervised investigations and prosecutions of cases touching on a wide variety of regulatory enforcement priorities, including financial crime, tax fraud, healthcare fraud, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, cybercrime, cryptocurrency enforcement, and sanctions violations. In her most recent role as chief of the Complex Frauds & Cybercrime Unit, Kate supervised several novel cases in emerging areas of law, including first-of-their-kind prosecutions of music streaming fraud and a hack of the Ethereum blockchain, and the first-ever conviction arising from a hack of a decentralized financial exchange. Notably, Kate’s work as a prosecutor spanned a wide array of industries, ranging from the financial services industry to sports and entertainment. Kate is also a skilled and experienced trial attorney. Between her time as an Assistant U.S. Attorney and as a supervisor, Kate tried or supervised more than a dozen jury trials.

Before joining the SDNY, Kate was an associate in the litigation and criminal defense & investigations groups of a global law firm. She received her J.D. from Harvard Law School and her A.B. from Princeton University, and worked as a law clerk for the Honorable Paul G. Gardephe, U.S. District Judge for the Southern District of New York, and the Honorable Faith S. Hochberg, U.S. District Judge for the District of New Jersey.

“At Pryor, when we focus on strategic growth, we strive to stay true to our roots and those things that have served as the foundation of our success. Our firm was founded as a partnership between a media and entertainment attorney and former federal prosecutor, and so white collar and regulatory practices have always been important to us,” said David C. Rose, managing partner of Pryor Cashman. “Adding a lawyer like Kate, with her extensive experience as a federal prosecutor, strengthens our quickly growing group and underscores its increasing stature among and appeal to the very best lawyers in the white collar and regulatory space.”

“I’m extremely excited to welcome my friend and former colleague Kate Reilly to the firm. I’ve always believed in Pryor Cashman’s natural strength in the white collar space: our firm has the nimbleness of a boutique to help clients who find themselves embroiled in a government investigation or prosecution, and the sophistication and industry-specific experience of a larger firm. Having had the privilege of working with Kate at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, I know that she fits perfectly with that—she is a phenomenal lawyer with the skill and experience to guide our clients through some of their most trying times,” said partner Sidhardha “Sid” Kamaraju, who is chair of the firm’s White Collar + Regulatory Enforcement Practice.

“I’m delighted to be joining Pryor Cashman,” said Kate. “The firm’s White Collar + Regulatory Enforcement Practice is dynamic and growing, and has proved itself to be uniquely positioned to help individual clients facing criminal investigations, in the way a specialized boutique would, and to advise corporations seeking the kind of counseling and guidance only a full-service firm can offer. I am so excited to join this group—especially under the leadership of its new chair, my friend and former SDNY colleague, Sid Kamaraju—and to bring my experience in government to bear in assisting the firm’s clients.”
