Life Spine Announces First Surgical Cases of ARx® SAI Spinal Fixation System

HUNTLEY, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Life Spine, Inc., a medical device company that designs, develops, manufactures and markets products for the surgical treatment of spinal disorders, announced today the first surgical cases of ARx SAI (Sacral Alar Iliac) Spinal Fixation System.

The ARx SAI Spinal Fixation System represents the next evolution in posterior fixation technology. Designed for optimal stabilization, the ARx SAI system can be utilized through a Sacral Alar Iliac trajectory within the S1 or S2 pedicles, ensuring robust fixation across the Sacroiliac Joint. The system features versatile implants combined with ergonomically optimized instrumentation, enabling the creation of customized constructs tailored to individual patient pathology while maintaining procedural efficiency. The screw shank is derived from the proven Life Spine SImpact® SI self-harvesting screw design, incorporating a self-drilling mechanism that facilitates autograft recruitment during insertion.

"This screw exhibits exceptional strength and purchase, providing robust fixation. Notably, it uniquely incorporates bone from the iliac crest into its structure during insertion—a feature I have not observed in other screws. This mechanism has the potential for enhancing biological integration at the bone-implant interface. In my experience, the pullout resistance and overall structural integrity of this screw is unique to anything currently available on the market," said Dr. David Yeh, San Jose, CA.

ARx SAI Spinal Fixation System Features and Benefits:

  • Self-drilling screws eliminate surgical steps to increase efficiency and save time
  • Self-harvesting design packs bone into fenestrations upon insertion
  • Low-profile Cobalt Chrome tulip head for greater strength and supports patients of all sizes
  • Universal T25 hexalobe drive features for ease of use and simplicity
