Village Caregiving Brings Affordable Access to Home Care to More Seniors, Families in Indiana

Mission-driven, home care agency adds Medicaid program, diversifies payment source in Hoosier State

BARBOURSVILLE, W. Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Village Caregiving (VCG), a mission-driven, privately-owned home care agency in the United States, today announced it successfully added the Medicaid program in Indiana, expanding access to affordable care for more seniors and families in the Hoosier State. The company provides support for daily activities such as light housekeeping, cleaning, grocery shopping, bathing, rides to and from appointments and companionship.

“Through our concerted efforts, we were able to bring our affordable caregiving services to more low-income families, including many seniors, who rely on Medicaid for support,” said Jeff Stevens, co-founder and CEO of Village Caregiving. “This is a significant win for senior care as many in-home agencies do not accept Medicaid due to the program’s rigorous and time intensive application process and compliance requirements.”

In Indiana, there are more than 1.8 million individuals who are on Medicaid as of August 2024. The program helps pay for health care coverage for one in six Medicare beneficiaries and for one in three people with disabilities, according to KFF.

In Indiana, Village Caregiving opened its first office in Indianapolis in 2021 and today has five other locations: Batesville, Bloomington, Evansville, Fort Wayne and South Bend. It has more than 450 caregivers serving more than 550 seniors and individuals throughout the state.

In 2024, VCG also successfully added Medicaid in four other states –Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia and Wyoming. Diversifying payment sources is one part of the company’s growth strategy as it continued its geographic expansion across the country.

Last year, VCG added 11 new locations, including two offices in two new states – North Carolina and Missouri. In total, it served more than 5,500 seniors and veterans across America. The company also hired more than 4,100 employees, including almost 4,000 local caregivers. The growth boosted its total roster of caregivers by 39% to more than 3,300.
