Grange Insurance Names Ryan Michel as Chief Property and Casualty Officer

COLUMBUS, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Today, Grange Insurance Company announced that Ryan Michel has been named the company’s Chief Property and Casualty Officer.

With more than 20 years of experience, Michel most recently served as President and Chief Underwriting Officer at Trusted Resource Underwriters. Prior to that role, he spent over two decades at Allstate Insurance in several significant executive leadership positions, including serving as President of Allstate Business Insurance and its $1 billion in commercial premium. Additionally, Michel spent 11 years in Canada as Chief Risk Officer and then President & CEO of the Allstate Canada group of companies. During his tenure, Allstate Canada increased premium by 50% to over $2.4 billion and earned consistent, industry-leading profitability across multiple distribution channels inclusive of the independent agency channel. Under his leadership, Allstate Canada was also recognized as a Kincentric Best Employer in Canada.

Prior to his time internationally, Michel held product and actuarial roles of increasing responsibility. At Allstate, he was the Midwest Regional State Product Manager, Director of Auto & Home Pricing for the $15 billion Eastern half of the United States and led pricing for $2 billion of Allstate’s specialty personal lines. He also spent three years at Nationwide Insurance in actuarial roles in the early part of his career.

Michel is a member of the American Academy of Actuaries and a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society. He earned his MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and his bachelor’s degree from Wheaton College.
