Visa Foundation Supports Los Angeles Wildfire Recovery Efforts

Visa Foundation commits $2 million to aid communities affected by the Los Angeles wildfires as part of the FireAid benefit concert

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--In response to the Los Angeles Wildfires, Visa Foundation announced a $2 million donation to support fire aid efforts in its home state of California. By supporting FireAid, Visa Foundation has the opportunity to not only support relief efforts but also help amplify the human spirit through music, community and shared purpose.

The donation is a part of Visa’s continued efforts to support Los Angeles-based team members and everyone affected by the devastating event. On January 30, the FireAid benefit concert will bring together musical performers for an event dedicated to rebuilding communities that have been devastated by the LA-region wildfires. The donations from the concert will be used for short-term relief efforts and long-term initiatives to prevent future fire disasters throughout Southern California.

"Our hearts go out to all those affected by the wildfires, and we are grateful to be part of an event that will be a powerful catalyst in helping the LA community recover and rebuild," said Kelly Mahon Tullier, Board Chair of Visa Foundation and Vice Chair, Chief People and Corporate Affairs Officer of Visa. “Visa and Visa Foundation are committed to supporting and strengthening communities in need during humanitarian and disaster relief.”

Since its inception, Visa Foundation has prioritized providing critical support where it is needed the most. To date, Visa Foundation has committed nearly $30 million in assistance to humanitarian and disaster relief. Part of its humanitarian assistance strategy includes its long-standing relationship with the American Red Cross, specifically its membership to their Annual Disaster Giving Program. Furthermore, Visa employees are encouraged to volunteer their time to support their communities in times of crises. In fiscal year 2024, Visa employees’ generosity has translated into over 16,000 volunteer hours and more than $5 million in employee matching globally.

From Typhoon Rai in the Philippines to the Kwazulu-Natal flooding in South Africa, Visa Foundation treats the world as its neighbor, remaining steadfast in its support of the communities in which Visa employees live and work.
