Black & Veatch Announces Collaboration with ReHope to Combat Human Trafficking

The company proudly sponsors the ReHope 2025 Freedom Gala, supporting survivors of sexual exploitation, human trafficking.

OVERLAND PARK, Kan.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Black & Veatch, a global critical human infrastructure leader, announces its sponsorship of ReHope for the nonprofit's 2025 Freedom Gala. ReHope’s mission began in 2015 as a way to safely house human trafficking survivors, eventually expanding into the Midwest’s largest residential survivor program.

ReHope’s crisis stabilization home and ReHope Farms provide trauma-informed counseling, life coaching, holistic wellness programs, job training, education, reintegration programs, therapeutic small animal programs, gardening and spiritual development. Its other programs include the ReHope Market — an online and pop-up boutique that sells survivor-made products and ReHope Coffee blend — and ReHope Youth, a collaboration with other organizations offering exits from trafficking and exploitation, as well as long-term stability for minors.

“Black & Veatch is committed to holistic safety, not only within our own company but the safety of those in our communities where both our employee-owners and clients work and live,” Black & Veatch Chairman and CEO Mario Azar said. “ReHope is crucial in providing lifesaving services for those experiencing the unspeakable tragedy of human trafficking. Our work with ReHope and its team serves as a promise to survivors across the globe that hope and a better future are possible.”

Earlier this year, Veronica’s Voice, an organization founded in 2000 by Kristy Childs, merged with ReHope, extending the reach and assistance for those compromised by human trafficking and exploitation. Black & Veatch proudly supported Veronica’s Voice through funding and updated facilities.

“Black & Veatch’s presence in the Kansas City community is felt through its unwavering support of survivors,” said Jason Alvis, CEO of ReHope. “This work cannot be done by just one organization, yet collective responsibility and accountability demonstrates that together we can provide hope and help rebuild lives.”

ReHope’s annual gala, “A Place to Call Home,” will be Jan. 25, 2025. For more information or to purchase tickets, click here.
