Carenet Health Appoints Alan Poenitske as Chief Strategy Officer, Underscoring Investment in Value-Based Care

SAN ANTONIO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Carenet Health, a leading provider of healthcare consumer engagement and clinical solutions, proudly announces the appointment of Alan Poenitske as Chief Strategy Officer (CSO). This strategic addition underscores Carenet’s commitment to accelerating value-based care (VBC) enablement – fostering innovation, improving patient outcomes, and delivering cost-effective healthcare solutions in partnership with its payer, provider and health services clients.

Poenitske brings nearly 30 years of experience in the healthcare industry, with specialized expertise in VBC contracting and accountable care models. His career has been marked by significant contributions to shape strategies that align quality care delivery with financial performance. Prior roles with organizations such as Evernorth Health Services (a Cigna Company), Council Capital, and eviCore Healthcare showcase his leadership in advancing risk contract management, specialty care solutions, and innovation in care transformation.

“Alan’s depth of experience in value-based care is an exceptional addition to Carenet’s team during this critical period of growth,” said John Erwin, Chief Executive Officer. “The healthcare ecosystem is evolving rapidly, and our clients are looking to us for solutions that redefine the next decade of care delivery. Alan’s expertise and leadership will be instrumental in delivering on that promise and positioning Carenet at the forefront of the industry.”

As CSO, Poenitske will partner with the executive team to develop a comprehensive VBC strategy for Carenet, in concert with the company’s current robust technological capabilities, patient-centered engagement model, deep healthcare industry expertise, and insight-driven approach to client solutions. He will spearhead initiatives that accelerate product innovation, drive consumerism, and ensure significant business and health outcomes with Carenet’s more than 500 premier healthcare clients.

“The opportunity to join Carenet at such a transformative time in the healthcare industry is extraordinary,” stated Poenitske. “I am excited to build on the organization’s strong foundation to enable value-based care expansion and success, in partnership with our clients. Together, we have an opportunity to define the future of value-based care and create innovative solutions that will have a lasting impact for patients, providers, payers, and the US healthcare system overall.”

Poenitske will join fellow members of Carenet's leadership team at the 43rd Annual J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference in San Francisco next week.
