E.SUN Publishes Climate and Nature Report

TAIPEI,Taiwan--(BUSINESS WIRE)--E.SUN FHC has released its “2023 Climate and Nature Report”, marking a significant milestone as the first report in Taiwan to receive third-party verification of the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) framework. This report achieved the highest grade of “Level 5: Excellence” from the British Standards Institute (BSI) for TNFD conformity and “Level 5+: Excellence” for climate-related financial disclosures (TCFD).

E.SUN was the pioneer in Taiwan to publish a joint TNFD and TCFD report in 2022. In early 2024, E.SUN joined the TNFD Early Adopters, committing to align with TNFD disclosure standards. The report uses the LEAP assessment approach to evaluate over 35,000 domestic corporate operation sites and more than 120,000 mortgage collateral locations in Taiwan. It integrates international databases and localized data, including 51 operational characteristics and geospatial indicators, forming 31 data layers. Additionally, the report trials TNFD’s nature scenario analysis, assessing the impacts of biodiversity loss and water stress on E.SUN’s investment and financing portfolio.

E.SUN is dedicated to embedding sustainability into its financial operations, promoting corporate investment in resources, and setting sustainable development goals. In collaboration with the Agricultural and Food Agency, the Corporate Synergy Development Center, and the Tse-Xin Foundation, E.SUN launched the “Leopard Cat Loan Project” to support agricultural producers in obtaining Traceable Agricultural Product (TAP) verification, organic certifications, and Ministry of Environment Green Mark labeling. E.SUN plans to expand the Farm to Table sustainable food value chain, fostering a harmonious relationship between food production and nature.

Chairman Joseph N.C. Huang emphasized that a good ESG strategy is fundamentally a good business strategy. E.SUN is committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 and aims to become “Nature Positive”. The company will continue to drive sustainable transformation through innovative financial services and collaborative actions, working with corporate partners and peers to create a harmonious relationship with nature.
