Quectel Denies Link to Chinese Military and Will Fight Department of Defense Advisory Designation

VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Quectel Wireless Solutions, a global IoT solutions provider, today said it is prepared to defend itself and is open to full audits to get removed from the Pentagon’s advisory 1260H list because it does not work with the military in any country, including China.

Quectel firmly believes that the U.S. Department of Defense made a mistake in placing it on the 1260H list. As a result, Quectel said it plans to contest its designation vigorously seeking its removal from the advisory list. The company does not engage in any work with military entities in any country, including China, and is not owned, controlled or affiliated with the Chinese military or any Chinese government body nor is it connected to the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

“We will take appropriate action to protect ourselves and our stakeholders. We are confident that we will be removed from the 1260H list,” said Norbert Muhrer, President and CSO, Quectel. “Our products, which are designed only for civil and commercial use cases, exceed industry standards and best practices in multiple security and compliance measures. We do not sell to military manufacturers anywhere.”

The 1260H designation is not a sanctions list. No export controls are applied to designated companies. U.S. individuals and companies are not prohibited from doing business with companies on the 1260H list.
