Sustainable Farming Featuring Crossroads Agriculture Airing on PBS’s “Travels and Traditions”

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The PBS series “Travels and Traditions” is airing a special program on sustainable farming. The show features Stefan Soloviev, the founder of Crossroads Agriculture, an innovative, fully integrated, 400,000-acre farming and ranching operation based in Colorado, Kansas, and New Mexico. For more than two decades, it has been at the forefront of sustainable and efficient farming practices.

Pioneers in the implementation of dryland farming techniques, Crossroads grows wheat and milo, a cereal grain, using no-till and minimum-till farming, land rotation and drought-resistant crop varieties.

Soloviev is originally from New York City. He embraced farming at an early age, and with the help of local farmers not only learned farming but embraced it and thrived.

“Sustainable farming is particularly important given the drought in the West and the major depletion of Western aquifers,” said Burt Wolf, producer and host of “Travels and Traditions.”

“Our methods have proved so successful that wheat and milo harvests in eastern Colorado now exceed the region’s grain elevator capacity, which we are meeting through state-of-the art silos, logistics facilities and our trains to support not only our own operations but those of local farmers,” according to Soloviev.
