Yamaha Marine Celebrates Career of Pro Angler Clark Wendlandt

KENNESAW, Ga.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Yamaha Marine honors angler Clark Wendlandt upon the announcement of his retirement from the sport of professional bass fishing this November. A Yamaha Pro Team member for more than 20 years, Wendlandt’s career spans three decades and includes a long list of bass fishing’s highest achievements.

“More than anything, I’m thankful I’ve been able to compete in a sport that I dreamed about as a kid,” said Wendlandt. “Competitive fishing allowed me to make a living doing what I love – it doesn’t get better than that. I plan to stay connected in the industry through some social media projects, and I look forward to the next chapter – which will include fishing.”

“Both on and off the water, Clark has been an influential and respected professional bass angler for the past 30+ years,” said Connor Megan, Pro Staff and Sponsorship Supervisor, Yamaha U.S. Marine Business Unit. “His passion for fishing, talent and sportsmanship are an example for the entire competitive fishing industry. Yamaha congratulates him on his retirement and wishes him many new, exciting adventures ahead.”

A Texas native, Wendlandt began his career with B.A.S.S.® before joining the FLW series in 2002. During his time fishing the FLW Series, he was a three-time Angler of the Year, a four-time FLW Tour winner and an 18-time qualifier for the Forrest Wood Cup®. He returned to B.A.S.S. to fish the Elite series in 2019.

After his return B.A.S.S. to fish the Elites, Wendlandt fished 151 tournaments, made six Bassmaster Classic® appearances and took home 49 “Top 20” finishes. During the course of his professional B.A.S.S. career, he caught more than 4,591 pounds of bass.

Wendlandt will retire to his hometown of Leander, Texas, where he plans to fish, hunt, spend time working on his ranch, play some golf and enjoy family.
