FHLB Dallas and Community Bank of Mississippi Boost Community Impact through $30K in Grants to Mississippi Nonprofits

Grants Provided Through FHLB Dallas’ Partnership Grant Program

JACKSON, Miss.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Representatives from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (FHLB Dallas) and Community Bank of Mississippi were joined by State Representative Otis Anthony, District 31, as they awarded $30,000 in grants to three Mississippi-based nonprofits – the Coalition of African American Communities ($3,000), the Corporation for Global Community Development ($21,000) and Delta Grace, Inc. ($6,000).

The funds are part of $1.2 million in Partnership Grant Program (PGP) awards FHLB Dallas and participating member institutions awarded this year. Through the PGP, FHLB Dallas member institutions contribute $500 to $5,000 to a nonprofit, which FHLB Dallas matches at a 5:1 ratio to provide up to $25,000 to the organization per member. The awards help promote and strengthen relationships between community-based nonprofits and FHLB Dallas members.

Delta Grace, based in Sunflower, Mississippi, received $6,000 in PGP funding.

“These funds will allow us to continue the work our founder, Veronica Pritchard, started over 10 years ago, and will be used to make necessary repairs that improve the safety, sanitation and security of homes and to fund mission trips across the state for students from the region,” said Delta Grace’s Executive Director Macon Davis. “Our hope is that through these funds, we will make a difference, not only physically, but spiritually, in the lives of people.”

Jackson, Mississippi-based Corporation for Global Community Development received $21,000 in PGP funds. The grant will be utilized to provide communities with food security, housing stability, health equity and childhood education.

These funds will be instrumental in building our organizational capacity,” said Evelyn Edwards, executive director of Corporation for Global Community Development. “We hope these funds will deepen our impact, allowing us to reach even more people and address critical needs at a larger scale.”

The Coalition of African American Communities based in Gulfport, Mississippi, received a $3,000 PGP grant. Executive Director Anthony Thompson said that the funds will be used to provide financial literacy to high school students, adults and small businesses in its community.

The PGP allows FHLB Dallas members to actively contribute to community development initiatives, fostering goodwill and bolstering local presence.
