Appgate Taps Federal Cybersecurity Leaders for New Advisory Board

Board Will Strengthen Appgate Solutions and Increase Alignment with Federal Initiatives

MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Appgate, the secure access company, today announced the formation of its Federal Advisory Board. This strategic initiative reinforces Appgate's commitment to enhancing federal cybersecurity and further aligning its solutions with the U.S. Federal Government's Zero Trust principles.

The newly minted board comprises esteemed experts from government cybersecurity sectors, including:

  • Rodney Lewis, Major General (ret.) U.S. Air Force
  • Jason Bonci, Former CTO, U.S. Department of the Air Force
  • Dennis Dias, Former Member, Defense Intelligence Senior Executive Service

These experts will serve as strategic advisors, guiding Appgate to address the unique security challenges faced by the DOD and federal agencies. They will leverage their deep understanding of government cybersecurity frameworks to ensure Appgate's solutions are optimally positioned to meet evolving agency needs, as well as security standards and mandates.

Appgate will continue to expand the advisory board over time with additional DOD and civilian cybersecurity leaders. The advisory board will provide ongoing counsel on critical business and technology strategy issues, drawing on their extensive experience in the federal sector.

Appgate CEO Leo Taddeo emphasized the significance of the Federal Advisory Board, stating, "This board is pivotal to our increased focus on the U.S. Government’s cybersecurity initiatives. Rod, Jay and Dennis's expertise will ensure our Zero Trust solutions meet the stringent requirements of federal agencies, particularly in navigating the complexities of hybrid environments, to ensure secure access to critical resources."

The formation of the Federal Advisory board comes at a crucial time as federal agencies must deal with the importance of securing an expanding attack surface. The proliferation of distributed networks and devices across the DOD and federal agencies demands a direct-routed approach to cybersecurity. Appgate is uniquely positioned to meet this challenge, delivering a scalable Universal Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) solution that creates individualized, encrypted access based on user identity, device posture, and real-time conditions. This architecture delivers secure access while optimizing performance and enhancing scalability, without relying on less secure vendor-hosted cloud redirection.
