American Water Launches Nationwide Celebration of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Safe Drinking Water Act’s 50th Anniversary

CAMDEN, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--American Water (NYSE: AWK), the largest regulated water and wastewater utility company in the U.S., announced today that it will launch a nationwide celebration recognizing the 50th anniversary of the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA), a law passed by Congress in 1974 to protect public health by regulating the nation’s public drinking water supply, through 50 days of highlights starting today through December 16, 2024.

The company expects to invest $34 to $38 billion in infrastructure repairs and replacement, and system resiliency over the next 10 years.
