No Cost to Adopt Any Dog or Cat During Clear the Shelters Event

Halifax Humane Society, NBCUniversal Local, Hill’s Pet Nutrition Crescendo Weekend

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--This Friday, September 6th, Saturday, September 7th, and Sunday, September 8th, there will be NO COST TO ADOPT ANY DOG OR CAT at Halifax Humane Society, 2364 LPGA Blvd., Daytona Beach, FL 32124. The shelter is open for adoptions from 12:00 noon to 6:00 pm all three days. This “Clear the Shelters” event is sponsored by Hill’s Pet Nutrition and supported locally by WESH 2 News, the Central Florida NBC affiliate.

The Rustic Road BBQ food truck will be at the animal shelter with FREE FOOD from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm on Saturday for the public adopting pets. Cold Stone Creamery's ice cream truck will be on-site with FREE ICE CREAM from 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm on Sunday. Free food and ice cream are limited to the first 100 guests daily.

The three-day adoption promotion is the Crescendo Celebration for the month-long national “Clear the Shelters” event. Since 2015, “Clear the Shelters” has helped more than 1 million pets find new homes across the United States. Halifax Humane Society plans to adopt 100 pets into new homes during the final days of the celebration in Daytona Beach.

On Friday, mobile dog gym Run ‘N Paw will be on-site at the shelter from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon to help exercise the longest-stay dogs. Tyler Meck from TM Canine Services will demonstrate dog training techniques from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm. At 4:00 pm, there will be a ceremonial ribbon cutting for the new Shelter Dog Splash Park created by Demetri Trastelis as the culmination of his Eagle Scout Project! WESH 2 News will broadcast live from the shelter during its 9:00 am, 12:00 noon, and 4:00 pm newscasts.

Every dog and cat awaiting adoption has been examined by a veterinarian, vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed or neutered. Thanks to Hill’s Pet Nutrition, every pet adopted will go home with a free sample bag of dog or cat food. Thanks to Boehringer Ingelheim, adopted dogs will be eligible for free doses of Heartgard Plus heartworm prevention with the purchase of an initial six-month supply.
