Trilliant Health Releases Free Provider Directory Application with Insights for More Than 2.9M Providers

BRENTWOOD, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Trilliant Health, the healthcare industry’s leading analytics firm, today released a free version of its Provider Directory application. The easy-to-use application creates a single source of truth for accurate and timely information about millions of healthcare providers and is available to the public at no cost.

Accurate provider directory information is foundational to patient access, care coordination, comparing health plan networks, information exchange and price transparency. However, the challenges with existing datasets are well-documented. According to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), provider directories "often contain inaccurate information, rarely support interoperable data exchange or public health reporting, and are costly to the health care industry." A recent report finds that the NPPES National Provider Identifier (NPI) registry matched only 28% of provider names, addresses and specialties when compared to health plan directories.

"For years, the Federal government has been talking about a single, centralized source of truth for healthcare provider data," said Hal Andrews, Chief Executive Officer of Trilliant Health. "Like CMS, we believe that an accurate provider directory is the cornerstone of many key initiatives, particularly interoperability. Unlike CMS, we don’t think health economy stakeholders and American consumers can afford to wait any longer to have access to an accurate provider directory."

"Most of the oft-discussed waste in the American healthcare system is administrative in nature, and eliminating that waste requires that companies stop charging for information that should be free," continues Andrews. "We are proud to release our national provider directory for free to every American, making public the most essential information about healthcare: who provides it, and where."

Trilliant Health's national Provider Directory is a web-based application that contains 2.9 million profiles for providers across the U.S. The Provider Directory leverages advanced machine learning models to correct outdated and incorrect data commonly found in NPPES and other provider directories. Each provider profile contains data about patient panels, practice locations, specialties, affiliations and the financial relationships disclosed in the Open Payments dataset.
