Investment to support Omni Federal’s continued growth as it seeks to modernize the mission and enterprise software technologies utilized by the U.S. Department of Defense and Intelligence Community

CHICAGO & WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Madison Dearborn Partners (“MDP”), a leading private equity investment firm based in Chicago which has raised aggregate capital of more than $31 billion since 1992, today announced that funds affiliated with MDP have made a strategic investment in Omni Federal (“Omni” or “the Company”). Omni is a founder-led, high-growth provider of innovative and intuitive mission and enterprise software solutions to the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Community (IC). Members of Omni’s management team will retain a significant ownership position in and continue to lead the Company.

Founded in 2017 and headquartered in Washington, DC, with a strong presence in Boston, MA, Colorado Springs, CO, San Antonio, TX, St. Louis, MO, and Washington, DC, Omni is a highly differentiated software solutions provider that has grown out of the DoD’s software factory ecosystem. The Company delivers both mission and enterprise solutions that aim to improve the federal government’s technological capabilities in critical areas, including Command and Control, Cybersecurity, Space, Geospatial, Modeling & Simulation, Training and Learning Management Systems. Omni leverages an innovative, commercial technology-based approach, tailored to government objectives, and adapted to both improve mission performance and deliver transformative outcomes for DoD and IC customers and their end-users.

Omni’s team is fueled by its unyielding commitment to its critical mission of elevating the technologies utilized by the nation’s brave warfighters and intelligence specialists, and its unwavering dedication to fortify the United States and safeguard its security and resilience against the relentless tide of evolving threats.

Omni’s diversified and industry-leading employee base of over 250 individuals specialize in elevating digital delivery through intuitive user experience (UX) and comprehensive solutions. Leveraging the power of DevSecOps, cloud and cyber solutions, coupled with data analytics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning, the team is helping redefine what is possible on the modern battlefield. In addition to delivering high-end software development capabilities to its customers, Omni utilizes a range of innovative software platforms and tools developed within its Omni Labs and SBIR Innovation centers in areas including data mesh, data fabric, secure data access, intelligent automation, user experience monitoring, and secure connectivity. Among numerous accomplishments, Omni has in the past few months been awarded significant contracts, including USSF FORGE C2, NGA ODIN II, Digital University, SOCOM’s Enterprise Training Platform, and multiple Platform One contracts.

Parag Thakker, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Omni Federal, said: “Omni is on a mission to reimagine and modernize our country’s vast federal legacy mission systems, which directly tie to the most significant challenges facing our nation. As we continue to invest in innovation and scaling, while pursuing acquisition opportunities to expand our solution offerings to drive further innovation in the DoD and IC, we’re pleased to welcome our new partners at MDP. The MDP Technology & Government team brings invaluable resources and experience that will support our ongoing work to help our customers resolve their complex challenges, expand and deepen our customer collaborations, and continue on our strong growth trajectory.”

Matt Norton, Managing Director and Head of MDP’s Technology & Government team, added: “As the federal government continues to prioritize the critical need to modernize its legacy mission- and enterprise-software platforms, the DoD and IC are increasingly turning to differentiated companies like Omni that can bring a commercially focused approach to tackling these challenges. Our years of experience and expansive resource network in the government and commercial software sectors, in tandem with our long-standing history of supporting the missions of the DoD and IC, will help us support Omni in adapting its solutions to penetrate adjacent mission domains, pursue larger modernization programs previously reserved for the largest government contractors, and further strengthen its ability to innovate, provide growth opportunities to its employees and meet its customers’ digital needs. We’re incredibly excited to partner with Parag, Sameer, Kevin and the entire Omni team on the Company’s continued growth journey.”

MDP’s Technology & Government team has deep experience working with government defense, government software and high-growth technology companies, and has a history of partnering with talented, often founder-led, management teams to help identify organic and inorganic opportunities to scale and strengthen product offerings and solutions. MDP’s relevant government sector experience includes its investment partnerships with AEVEX Aerospace, a leader in special mission airborne technology systems and solutions; LGS Innovations, the former Federal division of Bell Labs focused on C4ISR and cybersecurity for the IC; LinQuest Corporation, a leader in military space technology solutions; SpiderOak, a cybersecurity provider for space-based assets; T2S Solutions, a provider of R&D, rapid prototyping, and mission critical technology solutions; and Unison, a leading provider of government procurement, supply chain, and contract management software. MDP will also bring to bear its commercial software and education technology experience, including its partnerships with Carnegie Learning, a provider of AI-enabled adaptive personalized learning and coaching software for K-12 math, literacy, ELA, and world languages; Fieldglass, a human capital and talent procurement software provider; and Lightspeed Systems, an AI and cybersecurity student safety software company.

“MDP has tracked the DoD and IC software marketplace for years and we are extremely excited to be partnering with Omni, which we believe has emerged as a differentiated and highly innovative provider. The need for mission- and enterprise-software modernization will only expand in the coming years, and Omni will be a critical partner to its customers as they navigate this requirement,” added Brandon Levitan, a Director on MDP's Technology & Government team. “With its leading UI/UX capabilities, deep platform expertise, proprietary software tools, and fantastic leadership team and employee base, Omni is well-positioned for continued significant growth. We look forward to helping the team augment and accelerate their growth trajectory as they build on their great momentum.”
