PitchBook Releases Credit Intelligence Solution

PitchBook Credit, Powered by LCD, Includes Comprehensive News, Research and Data on Credit Markets to Power Core Workflows and Trend Analysis

SEATTLE--()--PitchBook, the premier data provider for the private and public equity and credit markets, today released PitchBook Credit, powered by LCD, the most comprehensive credit intelligence solution, with access to breaking credit news, institutional research, a complete database of debt and lenders data and the newly released Morningstar LSTA Leveraged Loans Index family, which is powered by LCD data. PitchBook recently integrated the US and European Morningstar Leveraged Loans Indexes and comparison tools, as well as launched a new credit dashboard, enabling users to easily navigate to PitchBook's core credit offering. These releases build on PitchBook’s strategic roadmap to integrate Leveraged Commentary & Data’s (LCD) industry-leading news, data and research into the PitchBook platform, following Morningstar’s acquisition in 2022.

The credit markets in 2024 have been incredibly active with a record amount of refinancing, repricing and extensions coming to market. However, we have continued to see low net new issuance driven by conservative borrowers and a subdued M&A market,” said Nizar Tarhuni, VP of institutional research. “Investors are still hungry to find attractive yields and we’ve seen investor demand increase dramatically, in turn driving secondary market prices to increase and spreads to compress. This makes access to real-time news, data and insights on credit markets imperative for issuers, asset managers and institutional investors navigating today’s uncertain environment. PitchBook LCD’s intelligence solution enables our clients to easily track daily market activity and make informed investment decisions, all from one centralized tool.”

Alongside PitchBook LCD’s news, data and research, the integration of the Morningstar Leveraged Loans Index family creates an end-to-end intelligence platform. In the PitchBook platform, the index includes interactive comparison charts to visualize and compare historical performance across up to 10 subindexes, from a menu of 280. Centralizing PitchBook’s intelligence solution is the new credit dashboard, a “home page” experience where users can easily navigate to the Index and its tools, credit news and research, and the Debt & Lenders Screeners. Additional modules provide shortcuts to Forwards Loans and Bonds Calendars as well as recent user activity, like screeners or profiles.

PitchBook Credit, powered by LCD, includes the following features:

  • Credit News – PitchBook’s team of 12 reporters have more than 25 years of experience covering the leveraged loan and high-yield bonds markets. Users gain access to an existing database of 230k+ news articles, and dozens of real-time stories added daily, to track lender, issuer and investor activity almost instantaneously.
  • Institutional Research – PitchBook’s Credit Research Team provides critical insights across the full life cycle of debt transactions—from origination to secondary activity. Enabled by both the debt and news data, the team compiles periodic research reports, market commentary, data sheets and informative decks.
  • Comprehensive database of debt and lenders data – Over 450k+ private debt data points covering debt facilities and transaction types across leveraged loans, high-yield and investment-grade bonds, and private credit asset classes—including direct lending and mezzanine debt. PitchBook’s database also includes primary and secondary credit transaction participants—ranging from lenders, issuers, sponsors, investors and service providers—providing users a comprehensive view of the entire private debt market ecosystem.
  • Morningstar Leveraged Loans Indexes – The Morningstar Leveraged Loan Index family is a market-value weighted index designed to measure the performance of the US and European leveraged loan markets. The indexes leverage a database of 85,000+ loans drawn from both public and proprietary sources, bringing transparency to private loan market transactions including performance, repayment, default and restructuring activity.
  • Debt and lender screeners – Part of the PitchBook’s Advanced Search capabilities, the Debt & Lenders Screener helps users explore our deep database of credit datapoints, with over 50 ways to customize searches and additional sorting and filtering options.
  • Loan and Bond Forward Calendars – Forward calendars provide an easy way to segment credit news articles based on the early stages of a loan or bond deal as it comes to market. Users can stay updated on rumored deals and recently announced bank meetings and learn when new loans are syndicated or new bonds are priced.

In Q2, PitchBook LCD will also be introducing the Leveraged Loans Index Components Tree Map, a visualization tool displaying index composition as well as performance by sector, credit rating or Global Industry Classification Standard (GICS) II Industry group. The tool is the first of its kind and will enable users to easily understand and compare performance across debt facilities and enhance due diligence workflows. PitchBook will also complete the integration of LCD’s BDC portfolio holdings data as well as CLO data, providing unmatched transparency into historically opaque debt deals and fund disclosures.

These releases build on PitchBook’s already comprehensive offering covering the global public and private financial markets and follows its acquisition of Leveraged Commentary & Data (PitchBook LCD) in 2022. By the end of Q2, PitchBook Credit will become the preeminent news, data and research provider for credit market participants, covering US and European leveraged Loans, high-yield bonds, private credit and CLOs. Centralized within PitchBook’s award-winning platform, users gain unmatched visibility across the entire public equity, alternative asset and credit market environment, with analytical tools to execute core workflows.
