Powering America’s Commercial Transportation (PACT) Announces 24 Founding Members at ACT Expo

WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Powering America’s Commercial Transportation (“PACT”), a coalition focused on education and advocacy for accelerating the deployment of nationwide infrastructure for medium- and heavy-duty (M/HD) zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs), announced its list of founding members during ACT Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada. Comprised of 24 companies from across commercial trucking and energy sectors, PACT founding members include ABB E-mobility, Alpitronic, Amazon, BC Hydro, Burns & McDonnell, Chateau Energy Solutions, Cummins Inc., Daimler Truck North America*, EV Realty, Geotab, Greenlane, InductEV, J.B. Hunt, Mortenson, Navistar, Inc.*, Penske Truck Leasing*, Pilot Flying J, Pioneer eMobility, Pitt Ohio, Prologis Mobility, Voltera, Volvo Group North America*, WattEV, and Zeem Solutions.

The different duty cycles and power requirements of heavy-duty vehicles relative to passenger cars bring unique challenges to building out this charging network. Commercial transportation electrification has experienced significant momentum in recent months. In March, the federal government laid out a plan to build a nationwide network of zero-emission freight corridors. In April, the Federal Highway Administration distributed nearly $150 million in grant funding to projects focused on electrifying key freight hubs, including to some of PACT’s founding members, and the Environmental Protection Agency made nearly $1 billion available for commercial vehicle electrification through the Clean Heavy-Duty Vehicles and Reduction of Truck Emissions at Port Facilities grant programs.

As supportive federal funding becomes increasingly available, PACT has taken several steps to advocate for the timely deployment of M/HD ZEV infrastructure. In service of this mission, PACT has intervened in legislative sessions and public utility commission and regulatory proceedings in multiple states. For example, PACT has focused on the California Public Utility Commission’s proceedings related to SB 410 implementation and supported legislation in New York and Illinois that would help accelerate infrastructure deployments for M/HD ZEVs.
