Unlocking the Field: SciAps Inc. Introduces Revolutionary PowerHouse X - The Ultimate Portable Benchtop XRF for Geochemists

The portable X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) comes with a 80kV (kilovolt) X-ray tube

WOBURN, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--SciAps, a global leader in scientific instruments and technology solutions, is proud to launch the newest XRF technology in its product line, the groundbreaking PowerHouse X, a portable benchtop with an 80 kV X-ray tube, specifically built to measure heavy REEs terbium (Tb), dysprosium (Dy), holmium (Ho), erbium (Er), and ytterbium (Yb) in the field.

“The PowerHouse X is our response to the world’s ever-increasing dependence on rare earth elements but with limited ability to analyze those elements in the field. We developed it for that great performance needed on heavy and light REEs, but it will also provide excellent results on pathfinders like barium (Ba), cadmium (Cd), and tin (Sn) plus all the usual heavy and transition metals,” says Don Sackett, SciAps CEO. “Users can now analyze heavy REEs in the field in seconds with a battery powered, fully shielded, portable benchtop.”

Conventional portable XRF, with maximum X-ray tube voltages of 50kV, can measure the light REEs but struggle to measure heavy REEs in any practical way due to inadequate excitation and severe spectral overlaps with common metals such as iron (Fe), copper (Cu), and nickel (Ni).

SciAps PowerHouse X, with an 80kV miniature X-ray tube, can efficiently excite the K shell emission lines for both light and heavy REEs. By analyzing these high energy K-lines, the complicated spectral overlaps with common metals are avoided completely, yielding unprecedented limits of detection and better performance than any other portable XRF.

The SciAps PowerHouse X is the solution to one of the electric vehicle and strategic metals industries’ biggest exploration and mining problems.
