Robert A. Dee and Joseph C. Alter Promoted within American Financial Group, Inc.

CINCINNATI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--American Financial Group, Inc. (NYSE: AFG) is pleased to announce the promotions of Robert (Bob) A. Dee to Vice President & Controller and Joseph (Joe) C. Alter to Vice President, Deputy General Counsel and Secretary.

Mr. Dee joined AFG in 1985 and has held positions of increasing responsibility within the Company’s finance and accounting areas during his tenure. He will remain responsible for oversight of accounting policies and procedures in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other regulations, and financial reporting to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Mr. Dee earned a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Xavier University and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the State of Ohio.

Mr. Alter joined AFG in 2023 after most recently serving as Deputy General Counsel, Board Secretary and Chief Communications Officer of Fifth Third Bancorp. He previously served as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of AK Steel Holding Corporation until its sale in 2020. In addition to Mr. Alter’s current role, he will be responsible for corporate governance and will work closely with the AFG Board of Directors and its committees.

Mr. Alter earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Economics from Miami University, Ohio. He earned a Juris Doctorate from the University of San Diego School of Law.
