American Water to Contribute Expertise to Several Panels at NARUC Winter Policy Summit

CAMDEN, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--American Water (NYSE: AWK), the largest regulated water and wastewater utility company in the U.S., announced today that three representatives will join regulatory policy panels at the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners’ (NARUC) Winter Policy Summit, taking place from February 25 through 28 in Washington, D.C. American Water will have a leading presence at the conference to discuss issues of heightened importance to commissioners, customers and communities across the U.S.

David Choate, Vice President of Engineering, American Water, is taking part in a panel titled Challenges Facing the Water Industry. Choate will share American Water’s leading role on emerging contaminant treatment and detection technologies, regulatory collaboration and public and customer education.

Cheryl Norton, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, American Water, is participating in a discussion on Water Research and Innovation in Action. Norton, along with other industry leaders, will highlight how research and innovation are key to helping the sector evolve.

Jim Jenkins, Senior Vice President Regulatory Service and Chief Regulatory Officer, American Water, will contribute to the rate-making discussion through his panel, Innovative Rate Making. Jenkins will share best practices on the rate-making process and how information is communicated to customers.

The NARUC Winter Policy Summit is an annual gathering of state utility regulators, industry representatives, consumer advocates and others to advance leading themes and opportunities for collaboration across regulatory policy.
