Publix named on Fortune’s World’s Most Admired Companies list

Ranked No. 49 overall

LAKELAND, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Publix has been recognized on Fortune’s World’s Most Admired Companies list for 2024, ranking No. 49. The company has been named on the list annually since 1996.

“At Publix, we pride ourselves in helping our communities and establishing a culture where we care for and respect our associates,” said Publix Director of Communications Maria Brous. “We’re honored to be named by Fortune as one of the most admired companies in the world.”

Publix is dedicated to taking care of its associates. From company ownership to a promote-from-within culture, the company believes in investing in its associates to retain top talent. As part of Publix’s commitment to associates, the company recently made an additional investment in its associates by enhancing paid time off.

Publix is also committed to serving its communities. Alleviating hunger is at the heart of the company’s charitable efforts. With the company’s hunger-alleviation campaign, customers come together twice a year to donate at the register to provide the food items needed most by local food banks. Alongside customer contributions, Publix purchased and donated $10 million in fresh produce in 2023 to Feeding America partner food banks. Together, through customer and company contributions, nearly $23 million was raised to help feed our neighbors in need last year.

In addition to hunger-alleviation efforts, Publix also works to care for the environment. The company collaborates with the Arbor Day Foundation to plant trees by using a portion of the proceeds from reusable bag sales. Over a two-year period, Publix helped plant 430,000 trees in Econfina Creek, a forest ecosystem in Florida devastated by Hurricane Michael in 2018, and in 2023, the company celebrated planting our millionth tree overall. Planting trees helps restore habitats for wildlife and reduces water runoff.
