Emburse Names Marne Martin as Chief Executive Officer

Transformational software executive to lead company through next phase of growth and evolution

LOS ANGELES & PORTLAND, Maine--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Emburse, Inc., the world’s largest independent provider of travel and expense software, announced that Marne Martin has joined the company as Chief Executive Officer, effective January 15, 2024. As part of this planned move, current CEO Eric Friedrichsen will transition to his new role as a member of the Emburse Board of Directors.

Marne brings more than 25 years of technology business leadership to the role. She has an illustrious track record working with both public and privately held software companies, driving teams that deliver exponential profitable growth, market expansion, and increased brand and analyst recognition. Her experience includes leading organizations through both initial public offerings and go-privates, in addition to other growth initiatives, M&A, and strategic exits.

Marne joins Emburse from IFS, a SaaS lifecycle management solution company with over $1 billion in revenue and 7,000 employees, where she was most recently Chief Strategy Officer & President. A long-time member of the IFS executive leadership team, Marne previously held roles including CEO of WorkWave LLC, an IFS company, and President of IFS Service Management. Prior to joining IFS, Marne held a variety of senior roles, including CEO of ServicePower, plc, and CFO of Norcon, plc. She has also served in several executive and non-executive board positions earlier in her career.

“I’m honored and excited to join the Emburse team to lead our continued strong revenue growth, rapid product innovation, and customer experience,” said Marne Martin. “Over the past four years, the company has consistently increased its market share, despite some of the most challenging conditions most of us have ever experienced. Emburse has successfully integrated several solutions and businesses, executed a number of transactions, and has acquired some of the world’s largest and most high-profile companies as customers. As a result, we are well positioned to accelerate the value we deliver to our customers, and scale the company to serve the world’s largest enterprises for many years to come.”

“I am excited to welcome Marne as our new CEO,” said Eric Friedrichsen. “The passion, operational excellence, and customer focus that our Emburse team has demonstrated has been instrumental in elevating the company to where it is today. In Marne, I’m confident we have the right CEO to continue this rapid trajectory of growth. I look forward to supporting her in my role as board member, and celebrating Emburse’s many successes as it achieves its future goals.”

“Marne is a proven change-maker who has had an incredibly successful career building and scaling category-leading software companies globally,” said Hasan Askari, Managing Partner at K1 Investment Management. “As Emburse continues its rapid growth journey, Marne’s track record, vision, and strong leadership will be instrumental in its success. I also want to thank Eric for his stewardship through the last few years. I look forward to continuing to work with him in his new role, partnering with Marne to drive value creation and the best customer experience in our industry.”
