Delos Expands Advisory Board With Appointment of Human-Centric Workplace Design Expert Kay Sargent
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Delos, a leader in science-backed solutions for healthier indoor spaces, announced today the appointment of Kay Sargent to its advisory board. An esteemed industry thought leader and speaker, Kay will join a distinguished group of multidisciplinary experts across the fields of health, wellness and real estate, including Dr. Richard Carmona, the 17th Surgeon General of the United States, Dr. Deepak Chopra, a leader in mind-body healing, and Arthur Mirante, an esteemed commercial real estate expert.
Commercial real estate is facing a crossroads as business leaders across the world reimagine the role office design can play not only for their bottom lines, but for the health and well-being of employees and building occupants. The Covid-19 pandemic and resulting fundamental shifts in office use ushered in a new workplace era, and as a result, an opportunity to support more holistic design approaches. Kay’s focus on workplace health and well-being, sensory processing, cognitive wellness and neuroinclusion is helping to shape a new narrative on the way people think about commercial real estate.
“There is a growing mandate to ensure the indoor spaces in which people spend 90% of their time support their well-being,” said Paul Scialla, founder and CEO of Delos. “Kay’s wealth of experience and knowledge of workplace design will help Delos fulfill its mission to advance health and wellness through science-based solutions that improve indoor environments.”
Kay Sargent is an award-winning designer and an innovator in workplace design and strategy. She currently serves as the Global Co-Director of HOK’s WorkPlace team and sits on HOK’s Board of Directors. Kay’s passion for human-centric design is demonstrated by her pioneering work to create inclusive spaces for all. She has worked with several Fortune 500 companies to optimize their global real estate portfolios and create innovative work environments based on their unique organizational needs. The American Society of Interior Designers honored Kay with its “Designer of Distinction” award in 2020. In 2021 she was selected from her field of peers to provide Congressional Subject Matter Expert Testimony to the U.S. House of Representatives on “Federal Real Estate Post-COVID -19: A View from The Private Sector.”
“We are witnessing the evolution of workplace, and design can be a powerful tool in that endeavor. What designers have always done well, the art of design, is being enhanced with the emerging science of design,” said Kay Sargent. “By creating environments that support wellbeing, inclusivity and inspire those within them, we can drive powerful outcomes and create spaces that reflect our humanity. And I’m excited to be working with Delos to do so. We need to design with courage to define the next generation of great places to transform the way we work, live, learn and play.”
