Pivot Bio Donates Funds to Support Local Food Banks in Its Communities

BERKELEY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--To give back to local communities and address the growing challenge of food insecurity across the U.S., Pivot Bio, a sustainable agriculture company, is donating to six local Food Banks or Food Pantries this holiday season in the communities where its team members live and work.

“The fundamental mission of our company is to support our farm partners who are working hard to feed a growing world population and help them with this challenge in new ways that positively impact the planet,” said Evan Wittenberg, Chief People Office, Pivot Bio. “It was natural for us to focus on food security when supporting our local communities. Through recommendations from our team members, we identified several organizations in our office locations that are doing meaningful work and can benefit from our support.”

Local organizations include:

  • Food at First, Ames, IA
  • Berkeley Food Pantry, Berkeley, CA
  • Leyden Township Food Pantry, Franklin Park, IL
  • Foodbank Heartland, Omaha, NE
  • St. Louis Area Foodbank, St. Louis, MO
  • Second Harvest Heartland, Minneapolis, MN

Food insecurity is a growing problem and many of these organizations rely heavily on volunteers and donations, especially during the holidays. According to Feeding America, a nationwide network of 200 food banks, 21 statewide associations, and 60K partner food pantries and meal programs, it is estimated that more than 53 million people sought support from these resources in 2021.
