"Kangaroo Kids" - A Heartwarming Family Adventure Film Premieres This Christmas on Sunn Stream

New family film by Branscombe and Fairai Richmond reminds audiences what it's like to experience life as a child

RENO, Nev.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sunn Stream, a new streaming platform championing the work of independent artists, is releasing the new family film “Kangaroo Kids” on Christmas Day. This heartwarming movie was made by father-son duo Branscombe and Fairai Richmond to remind families of the joys of childhood.

Taking place in the Down Under Adventure Zoo in Hart County, Kentucky, "Kangaroo Kids" follows the story of Johnny, a 13-year-old orphan girl who befriends the zoo’s famous kangaroo named Molly. Their tranquil life takes a thrilling turn when a cunning con artist, eyeing Molly's fame and value, hires three thieves to steal Molly and ultimately force the zoo to close down. Amidst this chaos, Johnny and her newfound friends — the Zooeys — must outwit the thieves to save Molly. The stakes are high as they race against time to prevent the bank from seizing the zoo — the only home Johnny's foster mom has ever known.

At its heart, "Kangaroo Kids'' is a celebration of innocence, friendship, and the resilience of the human spirit. It emphasizes the importance of love, kindness, and the unique perspective of children. The film features a talented ensemble cast, starring Josephina Baeza in the lead role of Johnny and includes other seasoned pros Kathleen Kinmont, Mike G. Kehoe, Michael Perl, and Melissa Perl. The production team, led by nearly 50-year veteran and third generation actor/filmmaker Branscombe Richmond and directed by Fairai Richmond, includes Shawn Hiatt, Dave Haws, Bob Gilles, Terani Richmond, and Tobi Nova.

“I came up with the idea of ‘Kangaroo Kids’ after spending a lot of time filming in Horse Cave, Kentucky and visiting the zoo there,” said Branscombe Richmond. “Fairai and I have such a passion for filmmaking and telling stories as native Hawaiians and native Tahitians. Not many get the chance to tell their own stories and we are grateful to share our own voice.”

“Kangaroo Kids” is the first of many originals Sunn Stream plans to release for families. The platform celebrates genuine artistic expression and nurtures creativity.
