Postman Launches Japanese Subsidiary, Local Language Product

Postman opens first office outside U.S. and India, offers Japanese-language version of core software

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Postman, the world’s leading API Platform, announced the launch of its Japan subsidiary, Postman K.K., to strengthen support for API professionals locally.

Postman’s Japan presence will serve over 400,000 developers and the 82 percent of the Nikkei 225 index already using Postman.

“We’ve spent the last seven months in Japan listening to developers, system integrators, leading software firms, and longtime Postman users,” said Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, president and representative director of Postman Japan. “We are convinced now is the time to invest in the Japanese market, support our loyal developer base, and educate enterprises on the value of the API-first approach to software and the collaboration that Postman enables.”

The commitment to Japan includes opening Postman’s first office outside of the U.S. and India, which are its two largest markets. Hundreds of developers and executives attended an event in Tokyo to mark the launch.

Postman also announced the Japanese localization of the core Postman API Platform. Developers can now use the company’s flagship product in Japanese, and Postman will release more localized components in the coming months.

“Postman is the clear choice when it comes to developing APIs to provide programmatic access to data, both to internal users via microservices and to external users via web services,” said Shigeru Urushibara, chairman of Tokyo-based UL Systems and a Postman user. “With AI becoming increasingly accessible to organizations of all sizes, APIs are more important than ever to connect existing business processes with AI backends.”

Via a series of hands-on workshops and technology-focused meet-ups, Postman’s Japan team has shown developers how APIs can link AI backends such as ChatGPT with existing systems, helping accelerate decision-making and automating processes.

"APIs are the fundamental building blocks of modern software and are central to the surge of innovation that we are seeing in Japan,” said Abhinav Asthana, Postman CEO and co-founder. “We are thrilled to be helping a wide range of developers use APIs to build more modular and secure systems, and recognizing the value in collaborating around these APIs. With AI becoming mainstream, APIs become even more important as the means to connect existing systems with the decision-making power of generative AI."

In addition to providing Japanese localizations of the Postman API Platform, the company is also investing in providing its Learning Center and support services in Japanese, with announcements to come.

“Postman’s focus on building API-first software will help developers in Japan connect a huge variety of systems, making it significantly easier for companies to collaborate around systems and processes, and an alternative to the ‘build or buy’ decision facing CIOs,” said Norikazu Tokusue, Postman Japan’s chairman.
