Arduino PRO Introduces Portenta Hat Carrier, Providing a Modular SBC Offering to Bridge the Arduino and Raspberry Pi® Ecosystems

TURIN, Italy--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Arduino, the open-source hardware pioneer with 32 million active developers worldwide, today announced Portenta Hat Carrier, the newest addition to the Arduino PRO range of high-performance hardware designed to transform Portenta X8 into an industrial SBC compatible with Raspberry Pi® Hats.

Portenta Hat Carrier is also compatible with Portenta H7 and Portenta C33 systems on modules. The carrier board enables any Portenta module easy expansion to multiple peripherals, including any Raspberry Pi® HAT compatible with the Model B 40-pin header, Ethernet, microSD and USB.

Great for prototyping and ready for scaling up, it features dedicated JTAG pins for quick debugging, an onboard CAN transceiver, an additional 8x analog I/Os and a PWM fan connector. Portenta Hat Carrier adds interfaces designed for professional customers using Raspberry Pi® technology in commercial solutions.

“Portena Hat Carrier provides a unique bridge between the Arduino and Raspberry Pi® ecosystems, offering professionals a modular platform for prototyping to full-fledged industrial applications,” said Massimo Banzi, Arduino’s co-founder, chairman and CMO. “We are excited to offer a product that answers our customers' requests and supports an ecosystem we admire.”

The new Portenta Hat Carrier is compatible with a wide range of Raspberry Pi® Hats to offer a frictionless Linux prototyping experience. Beyond prototyping, Portenta Hat Carrier is suitable for industrial applications ranging from robotic motion controls, intelligent sorting, anomaly detection, vehicle monitoring and smart sensing, to name a few.

Arduino Pro’s Portenta Hat Carrier is available to order today in the Arduino Store and through major distributors for €39 / US$45. For more information and complete technical specs, please visit the product page.
