Federman & Sherwood Investigates National Student Clearinghouse for Data Breach

OKLAHOMA CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The law firm of Federman & Sherwood has initiated an investigation into National Student Clearinghouse (“Clearinghouse”) with respect to their recent data breach. On or before September 23, 2023, Clearinghouse notified individuals that the company experienced a data breach after an unauthorized party accessed sensitive consumer data entrusted to the company. The breach was discovered on May 31, 2023. According to Clearinghouse, they determined that information moved through file transfer tool, MOVEit Transfer may have been subject to unauthorized access on or around May 30, 2023. Clearinghouse determined on June 20, 2023, that the information exposed in the data breach includes: name, date of birth, contact information, Social Security number, student ID number, and certain school-related records (enrollment records, degree records, and course-level data).
