Edelman Financial Engines Marks Sixth Year Ranked as the Top Independent RIA by Barron’s

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--For the sixth consecutive year, Edelman Financial Engines (EFE) has been named the nation’s top independent Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) by Barron’s.1

“We are honored to once again be named by Barron’s as the top RIA in the country,” said Jay Shah, CEO of Edelman Financial Engines. “There are many factors that go into the Barron’s analysis, such as the size and scale of the business and investments in the business, as well as qualitative aspects such as firm diversity and culture. We’re proud of them all, but what matters most is what this represents – which is the trust our clients place in EFE every day to help them achieve their most important financial goals.”

For more than three decades, EFE has been providing Americans with access to high-quality, unbiased financial planning-led advice. The firm serves 1.3 million clients across the country, managing their $250 billion in assets. EFE’s nationwide workforce of approximately 1,500 employees includes more than 730 planners, advisors, client service associates and analysts.2 In addition to a network of local financial planners, the firm works with many of the nation’s largest employers and top retirement plan recordkeepers. Through these two channels, EFE provides both employees and retail clients with institutional quality asset management, proprietary technology, and access to world-class personal financial planning.

“Whether you come to us through one of our local planning offices, or through a relationship with an employer-based retirement plan, EFE’s unique service model and capabilities allow us to reach and help clients during the many important financial moments and milestones in their lives, from the start of their career all the way through retirement,” noted Kelly O’ Donnell, Co-Chief Client Officer.

“We’re at an exciting phase as we continue to evolve and grow the firm, building on the heritage of our legacy businesses,” added Jason Van de Loo, Co-Chief Client Officer. “As we look to the future, we are focused on organic expansion, adding new holistic financial services and capabilities, as well as acquiring wealth management and financial planning businesses that align with our distinctive business model. We’re thrilled with this recognition from Barron’s, which affirms our commitment to clients and how we are always keeping their best interests at the center of everything we do.”

Methodology

The Barron’s rankings are based on data compiled from a 160-question survey applied to their formula. The 8th annual ranking of independent advisory companies is based on assets managed by the firms, technology spending, staff diversity, succession planning and other metrics.
